Delaney Blue. What a surprise ! I mean, I rarely wake up and say 'what's up Delaney?'. But we don't care. It's his real name and it's his chosen name. Delaney believe in himself, Delaney is a believer. As Elvis, Zimmerman, Osterberg and a few others : True Believers ! Born a few years back in Graceland, Amsterdam, Sheperd's Bush or Menilmontant. That we don't care neither. The only thing that matter is his old choice of living, a dangerous, painfull, lachrymal way of life called ROCK'n ROLL. He'd rather die that dissin Johnny Burnette or congratulate Phil Collins, its up to you. And this guy knows how to write ! Write songs. Standards. He offer us instant redemption. What's keeping you ? Go, Delaney, go ! Its just beautiful. Live on !

Delaney Blue lives and works in Paris the city he calls home where he lands after a few mindblowing years in London and Amsterdam. Without missing a beat he becomes part of the city's bohemian rock scene of the 80's. His lifestyle and personal taste for all things sleazy leads him to cross paths and work with the seminal NEW YORK figures Johnny Thunders, Stiv Bators and Richard Hell. It takes two to tango they say and right on cue. His long standing friendship and collaboration with Daniel Darc (Taxi Girl) comes to a climax when he writes and co-produces Darc's "Nijinsky" album. The two men keep working and touring in France and abroad for the rest of the nineties. During this period he writes prose and short stories and is involved in spoken word shows and composes film scores. As the 90's wear off he launches the Pure Sins, a fresh outlet for his new songwriting vistas. The band leaves behind two eponymous albums. Equaly at ease in a electric outfit or as singer songwriter in the urban folk tradition, he is present on the scene with the acoustic duo The Opry DropOuts and plays solo shows often with piano or pedal steel. His recent signing to the "Le Maquis" label offers him the chance to release his latest collection of songs that range from Vegas style epic ballads and power pop with a glam edge to low key acoustic torch songs that play host to a number of musician friends such as Sal Bernardi (Rickie Lee Jones). |
